Autumn 2024 - update from Vistry

Submission of Planning Applications

We are pleased to announce that the first two detailed residential planning applications (reserved matters) and the infrastructure application for The Landings have now been submitted to Arun District Council. These submissions mark significant milestones in the creation of a vibrant mixed-use community at Ford Airfield. The planning permission for up to 1500 homes at Ford Airfield was established via the outline planning permission in 2023; this application will provide detailed designs for the site for the first two residential parcels of the site, making up 697 Homes.

You can provide your comments and feedback directly via the planning portal using references F/14/24/RES & F/15/24/RES

Upcoming On-Site Preparatory Works

We also want to inform you that preparatory work is continuing on-site. These works will include:

Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Surveys: As part of our safety measures, we will be conducting thorough assessments for any unexploded ordnance on the site.

Archaeological Surveys: To ensure that any potential archaeological interests are properly identified, we will conduct the necessary archaeological investigations.

These activities are crucial to ensure the safe and successful progression of the development and may require temporary restrictions on access to certain areas of the site.

We will provide further updates as this work progresses.

September 2024

Meetings have taken place between representatives of Vistry, the CLT, the Governor and staff at HMP Ford to look at ways that the site might present opportunities for employment for offenders.

The monthly meeting with Vistry took place on the 5th of September 2024. The next step is for the Reserved Matters application to be submitted to ADC for approval.

It was agreed that a single document repository should be created to allow residents to keep track of the applications as they are submitted. This can be found by following this link

On the 6th of September 2024 a meeting took place with the new MP for Ford and Yapton, Alison Griffiths to acquaint her with the plans for the airfield.
